Tips&Tricks - Tips&Tricks
Help is at hand
Your device has context-sensitive help. You can access help from an application or from the main menu. To access help when an application is open, select Options > Help .
Shortcut to menu items
When in the menus, instead of using the scroll key, you can use the numeric keypad to quickly access the applications. For example, in the main menu, press 3 to open the third item in the menu (by default Maps).
Switch between text input modes
To switch between multitap, predictive and numeric text input, quickly press # twice.
Copy and paste
You can select pieces of text for copying and pasting. Select text with the scroll key while pressing and holding the Edit key to copy. Copied text can be pasted by pressing the Edit key again.
The alarm clock stays awake
The alarm clock works even if you set the power off. If the alarm time is reached while the device is switched off, the device switches itself on and starts sounding the alarm tone.
Shortcut to Profiles
You can quickly change profiles by pressing the power key briefly and selecting the desired profile from the list. You cannot edit the profiles in this view.
Imaging/tips
No more shaky images
When taking a picture, it is recommended to use both hands to keep the camera still.
Recording video clips
When using the secondary camera, press the scroll key to start recording a video clip.
Video clips from PC
You can manage and transfer downloaded video clips between your device and PC with Nokia Video Manager. Files are automatically converted to a mobile optimized size and format during the transfer.
Easy image transfer
You can transfer images from your device to a compatible PC with Image Store available in Nokia Nseries PC Suite. See the Nseries PC Suite tutorial for details.
Don't carry extra pixels
To save memory space after you have printed or uploaded your images and still keep a small version of the image on your device, select Options > Shrink. This will reduce the images to display-optimized resolution.
See it on TV
Connect the Nokia Video-Out Cable from the 3,5 mm connector on your device to the video input of a compatible TV to see your images and videos on TV screen.
Music/tips
Open the Music player
You can quickly open the Music Player by sliding the top of the device to the downward position. The media keys are revealed and can be used for controlling the audio feedback.
Your music sorted out
To sort music tracks, select Options. List tracks in the current folder by name, file name, date or size. Sorting affects the playing order of tracks in the current folder.
Go offline
You can use the Music Player (or play games etc.) in the offline mode in situations where phone use is prohibited, such as on flights as instructed by airlines. Go to Profiles and select Offline, or press the Power key briefly and select a profile from the list.
Visual radio connection
Visual Radio uses a WAP connection and the GPRS network. Always use the WAP connection as the access point for Visual Radio. You can order the WAP access point for free from Nokia web site or from your operator.
Mobile browsing/tips
Connecting to the Web
To connect to the Web, you must configure the Internet access point and Internet connection settings. Contact your service provider for the correct settings. In many cases, these settings are retrieved automatically.
Shortcut to Web
To start the web browser, press and hold 0 key in the standby mode.
Where was that page?
As you browse, the Auto bookmark feature keeps track of the pages you visit, making it easy to get back to them later. You can manage your bookmarks in Options > Bookmark manager.
Keys to faster browsing
Press 1 to open your Bookmarks, press 3 to return to the previous page, press 6 to switch between your open browser windows and press 9 to go to a different Web page.
Nokia mini map
The yellow-tinted area in the mini map displays the area that you haven't seen yet.
Page history
You can enter the history view also via the Options menu under Navigation options.
Getting connected/tips
Got the picture?
You can send a multimedia message to an e-mail address. Zooming during a video call
Select Zoom in or Zoom out , or press scroll up or scroll down to zoom your own image. The zoom indicator is shown at the top of the display.
Quicker Calendar
When viewing the Calendar in any view, press (*) to quickly switch to another view. To view the current day in the month view, press (#) .
MAC address for Wireless LAN
To define wireless LAN access point parameters and security settings, go to Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Access points . In some situations, you might need to know your device's MAC (Media Access Control) address. View it by entering code *#62209526# (i.e. *#mac0wlan#).
Bluetooth coming through
Since devices using Bluetooth technology communicate using radio waves, your device and the other devices do not need to be in direct line-of-sight. The two devices only need to be within a maximum of 10 meters of each other, although the connection can be subject to interference from obstructions, such as walls or from other electronic devices.

Nokia N95 8GB software version 15.0.015 released - 11 January 2008
1. Activate active idle if not already active: Menu > Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby mode > Active standby = on
2. Back-up your device memory data to your device memory card or to your PC using Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Nseries PC Suite. See Nokia N95 user guide for more detailed instructions.
To backup to your memory card:
Select Tools > Memory from the main menu
Select Options > Backup phone mem.
3. Update your Nokia N95 firmware with Nokia Software Updater
4. Activate active idle if not already active: Menu > Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby mode > Active standby = on
5. Restore data to your Nokia N95 or to from your PC using Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Nseries PC Suite. See Nokia N95 user guide for more detailed instructions.
To restore data to device memory:
Select Tools > Memory from the main menu
Select Options > Restore from card
4. Install New_Menu_Structure.SIS
To install device software
- Download the file to a compatible computer. If it is a ZIP file, you may need to extract it manually before continuing.
- Transfer it to your device using Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Nseries PC Suite and a Nokia Connectivity Cable DKE-2 or wireless connection.

This software version includes Flash Lite 3 support which enables users to watch Flash video Web sites such as YouTube and improved power consumption allow you to do
more for longer. Other improvements include WLAN and browser stability, email viewing and Nokia Maps startup.
